A double pendulum is a pendulum with a second hinged arm attached to its end. The motion of a single pendulum is periodic and predictable but a double pendulum exhibits compelx, chaotic behavior. Small differences in initial conditions lead to unpredictable and drastically different motion over time. This doodle lets you explore chaotic motion by adjusting pendulum parameters, visualizing the traced paths, and comparing multiple pendulums started with slightly different initial conditions.
